Adding SimplySnap to Athena is ideal for interior lighting projects that include parking lots, parking garages, and general outdoor site and area lighting. It provides a unified solution for customers seeking a single point of monitoring and control, ensuring seamless management of both indoor and outdoor lighting systems.
How it Works
The two systems are connected via API integration, allowing exterior lighting to be controlled through the Lutron app, a physical Lutron control (such as the Pico remote), and the Timeclock feature within the Lutron app. The Synapse system provides real-time feedback, reporting the on/off status and dimming levels of individual fixtures directly to the Lutron app, ensuring a cohesive and streamlined control experience.
How the System is Commissioned and Serviced
The respective manufacturer or rep will individually commission and service the systems. Field service reps from both parties must validate the integration. Service contracts are independent of each respective manufacturer, and warranties are issued by each respective manufacturer.
COMPONENTS OF SOLUTION
Gateways
The Synapse gateway coordinates communication with all Synapse-enabled devices. In addition to hosting the local SimplySnap user interface (WiFi or Ethernet), the Synapse gateway collects power and status data, applies zone behaviors, stores scheduled events, generates notifications, and updates controllers with the latest features and enhancements.
In-Fixture Controllers
In-fixture controllers are installed at the factory by the fixture OEM. These controllers are DC-powered by the LED driver and offer options for 0-10V dimming, DALI2/D4i, and analog sensor inputs, providing seamless integration with various lighting setups.
External & Twist Lock Controllers
The external and twist lock controllers simplify the process of adding wireless controls in the field. With a variety of AC- and DC-powered options, these controllers support a wide range of fixture configurations, enabling quick and flexible deployment.
Indoor & Outdoor Wireless Switches
Wireless switches bring added flexibility to SimplySnap deployments, allowing users to add up to five scenes per button. They are available in 2- or 8-button configurations for indoor use and a 2-button configuration for outdoor applications.
Wireless Photocell & Motion Sensor
The wireless photocell and motion sensor extend occupancy detection in locations where a fixture-based occupancy sensor may not be present. For parking structure applications, the sensor can provide open-loop daylight harvesting for the continuous dimming of lights on the garage's perimeter.
External Motion Sensor Support
Most in-fixture and external controllers support sensor inputs, enabling integration with analog high/low occupancy or daylight sensors. Additionally, DALI-2 compatible motion sensors, such as the Wattstopper FDP-301 and TE Lumawise Motion, are supported for enhanced lighting control and energy efficiency.
SimplySnap Cloud
SimplySnap Cloud offers additional functionality like centralized management, real-time syncing, power insights, fixture failure e-mail alerts, and more through a progressive web app. Synapse gateways connect to SimplySnap Cloud through the customer LAN (Ethernet or WiFi) or through the gateway’s built-in cellular connection.
